I’ve noticed with a lot of young couples it’s really common to have dinner and watch a movie (or something of that sort) for a first date. Personally, I don’t think you’re getting anything done. You’re not getting to know each other. You sit in an air conditioned room for two hours, eat at some restaurant you rarely ever eat at, and then what? What did you learn from that? Nothing. I’d rather sit down and grab coffee, or go to something interactive, so you HAVE to talk. That’s what a first date is for: to get to know each other. I don’t understand how people can date a person for a month and not know a thing about them. I want to know you on a deeper level. I want to build a strong foundation. So if things don’t work out ‘dating’, then at least we could be friends. I’d rather build a relationship out of something than out of nothing. And I mean, come on- coffee is barely a date! You have coffee with distant relatives and co-workers you don’t even like.
